Okum Studio
our new space for recording, writing, producing and hosting intimate events
Two years ago, we received a call from our longtime collaborator, Simone Garino, who told us about an amazing, almost abandoned studio near the Dora River, just a few minutes outside Turin. The studio belonged to Italian composer Fabio Barovero, who after decades of works, needed to relocate and he was looking for someone to carry on its legacy.
Nestled inside a 19th-century mill, surrounded by the river, trees, sunflowers, and bamboo, the place immediately struck us as a peaceful retreat — the perfect spot to start a new recording studio after eight years in the “bunker” of our previous space Rubedo Recordings.

ant it sounds like this
As you can imagine, we completely fell in love with it, and it quickly became an obsession. After slow negotiations with the property, we finally settled there in July 2024 and began the renovation: acoustic treatments, electricity, air conditioning, and furnishing — all under the sign of DIY (read: little money, lots of pride).
For over a year, we moved between building walls, producing records, patching cables, fixing windows, mixing, painting and touring…

Now, we are beyond excited to announce the birth of OKUM STUDIO, a recording facility operated by Italian producer and sound engineer Manuel Volpe together with studio manager Simone Pozzi. Also it will be our label headquarter and a space where occasionally host live showcases, talks, listening sessions and workshops…
Okum Studio is open to all artists and bands looking for a peaceful place beyond the city to record, write, compose or just rehearse their music
We hope to take some decent photos of the spaces soon but if you are interested to know more or get in touch here’s the link.
